Dr. Alex Doctoroff
(Clark, Kearny & Teaneck offices)
Dr. Alex Doctoroff is a Board Certified Dermatologist. He is the past President of the New Jersey Dermatological Society. Dr. Doctoroff is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Dermatology at the world-renowned Columbia University Medical Center and New York Presbyterian Hospital, where he teaches dermatology residents. He also holds the position of Assistant Chief of Dermatology at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in East Orange. He teaches medical residents and students at UMDNJ, where he is a Clinical Assistant Professor. Dr. Doctoroff is on staff of St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston. In addition to general medical dermatology and skin allergy testing. Dr. Doctoroff specializes in cosmetic dermatology, surgical dermatology, Mohs micrographic surgery, and anti-aging skin treatments.
Our Clark, Kearny and Teaneck patients honored Dr. Doctoroff with the Compassionate Doctor Award at Vitals.com and the Patient Choice Award at PatientsChoice.org. Dr. Doctoroff is also the recipient of multiple dermatologic awards for excellence. These include the Allergan-AOCD Resident Paper Competition Award, the Stelwagon-Kroll Award, the Dr. Daniel Koprince Educational Award, and the Dr. Albert P. Ulrich Research Award. Dr. Doctoroff has authored multiple publications in national dermatologic journals on a variety of topics. Additionally, he is a contributor to a premier resource to dermatologists worldwide, a book entitled "Treatment of Skin Disease", edited by Mark Lebwohl et. al.
Dr. Doctoroff graduated from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in 1998. Following a year of residency in Internal Medicine at Brooklyn’s Maimonides Medical Center, Dr. Doctoroff completed his dermatological residency at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2002, where he was ranked first in the nation during both his second and third years of residency. He also elected to have additional training in dermatologic research, earning his Master of Science.

Dr. Doctoroff opened Metropolitan Dermatology in 2004. He is fluent in English, Russian, Ukrainian, and Hebrew. He lives with his family in Springfield, New Jersey.
Dr. Asher Rabinowitz
Dr. Asher Rabinowitz is a board certified dermatologist. He received his bachelor-of-arts degree from Yeshiva University and his M.D. from George Washington University. Following an internship at Maimonides Medical Center, he did his residency at the New York Medical College/ Metropolitan Hospital Center. While there, Dr. Rabinowitz received the New York Academy of Medicine Annual Residents Forum Award. Dr. Rabinowitz did a fellowship in dermatopathology at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. He then remained in Cleveland for four more years directing the dermatopathology laboratory at University Hospitals of Cleveland/Case Western Reserve, as well as seeing private patients.
For the last thirty years, Dr. Rabinowitz has been an Associate Professor of Dermatology at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, where he made major contributions to the teaching program and to the dermatopathology service. For twenty-four of those years he also had a part-time practice in Teaneck, New Jersey.
Dr. Rabinowitz has recently retired from Columbia and immensely enjoys once again seeing patients in a private practice clinical setting.
Dr. Alan Cohen
Dr. Alan Cohen was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. He graduated with honors from Vanderbilt University with a degree in engineering. He then studied medicine at Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, followed by an internship in Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Medical branch in Galveston. Dr. Cohen did a research fellowship and residency in dermatology at Tulane University in New Orleans. While there, he did a presentation on antiviral agents at a meeting of the Lousiana Dermatological Society. He also co-authored an journal article on a rare type of skin growth called a Combined Nevus.
Dr. Cohen is currently on staff at St. Michael's Hospital in Newark, and has been on the teaching staff at the Veterans Administration Hospital in East Orange. His greatest satisfaction is seeing a happy patient after a severe rash has cleared. When not in the Kearny office, Dr. Cohen, an amateur chef enjoys getting back to his roots by cooking Texas specialties like enchiladas and BBQ.
Dr. Richard Urbanek
(Staten Island office)
Dr. Richard Urbanek has been practicing dermatology for nearly four decades. He received his M.D. from Cornell Medical College and is certified by the American Board of Dermatology. Dr. Urbanek served as the Director of Dermatology at the Staten Island University hospital between 1989 and 2007. He recently received recognition for 35 years as a clinical professor at NYU, and was also honored by the American Cancer Society for for his efforts against the disease. He has formulated his own line of therapies to meet the specific needs of his patients. Dr. Urbanek gains tremendous satisfaction when his formulations result in significant improvement for those he treats.
When not practicing dermatology, Dr. Urbanek enjoys swimming, tennis, golf and biking with his yellow lab Maxie.
Dr. S. Jose Fishman
(Kearny & Jersey City offices)
Dr S Jose Fishman, is a board certified dermatologist since 1974. He did his training at New York University department of Dermatology. He stayed as Clinical Assistant Professor of Dermatology for 30 years in the Surgical Section of the training program. He has been in private practice in Kearny and Jersey City for over 40 years. His main interest is in diagnosis ant treatment of skin cancers. His goal as a practitioner is to get the patients better in the shortest possible time at the least cost. He is perfectly fluent in Spanish and partially fluent in Portuguese and French.
In his spare time he likes to hike, travel, spend time with friends and family, read fiction, going to the theater, and listening to classical music.
Dr. Richard Fox
(Kearny & Jersey City offices)
Richard Fox, M.D.,FAAD, has been practicing dermatology for over four decades. He is certified by the American Board of Dermatology and is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology. Born and educated in Philadelphia, he received his B.A. in biology from Temple University. Dr. Fox earned his Medical Degree from Jefferson Medical College. Subsequently, he completed an internship at Los Angeles County General Hospital. Dr. Fox then became an attending physician in the hospital emergency room. Following this, Dr. Fox served as a medical officer in the United States Navy for two years.
In 1972, Dr. Fox turned his focus to skin, hair and nails. He completed his dermatology residency at the Bronx Veterans Affairs Hospital. He was chief resident for the final year in training at the prestigious Mount Sinai Hospital in New York.
Dr. Fox gets deep satisfaction from caring for patients of all ages. He is known for his respectful patient care and excellent diagnostic skills. General dermatology and skin cancer surgery are his specialties. In his spare time, Dr. Fox loves traveling, reading, pets, and computer science.

Dr. Angela Beckford
(Clark, Staten Island, and Teaneck offices)
Angela N. Beckford MD, MPH is a broad certified and fellowship-trained dermatologist specializing in surgical and cosmetic dermatology. Dr. Beckford completed her dermatology residency at Boston University School of Medicine after a surgical internship at Lenox Hill Hospital/New York University School of Medicine in Manhattan. Advanced training was obtained during a Skin Oncology Fellowship at Boston University School of Medicine where she received the distinguished MFD Award for Humanitarianism.
Dr. Beckford was the recipient of the Outstanding Scholastic Achievement Award on receiving a Master of Public Health from Florida International University. In addition, she also completed an internship in Epidemiology with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Director of Health Promotion and Education Scholarships Program at the Miami Dade Health Department. There she was awarded the Miami-Dade County Health Department’s Health Hero Award for Extraordinary Contribution to the SARS/smallpox national protocol.
Dr. Angela Beckford has been involved in numerous dermatologic clinical research trials as well as medical school educational projects. She has presented on cutting edge cosmetic technology at national meetings such as the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS). Dr. Beckford has also co-authored many published peer-reviewed journal articles. She is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, ASLMS, Women’s Dermatologic and the Skin of Color Societies. She is affiliated with Hackensack University Medical Center.
Dr. Beckford treats a wide range of skin conditions including skin cancer. She takes pride in offering individualized care to every patient. Her goal is for you to achieve your full potential with healthy radiant skin. Dr. Beckford combines her mastery of artistic, sculpting and surgical skills to attain a natural and rejuvenated appearance when performing various cosmetic procedures such as liquid facelifts (botox and fillers).
Outside of the office Dr. Beckford enjoys broadway plays, outdoor activities and spending time with family and friends.
Dr. Adam Nabatian, MD, FAAD
Adam Nabatian is a board certified dermatologist who is trained in dermatologic surgery. Dr. Nabatian specializes in Mohs micrographic surgery for skin cancer and facial reconstruction. Dr. Nabatian also specializes in cosmetic dermatology, cosmetic injectable fillers, and laser skin treatments.
After attending Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and completing his dermatology residency at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, Dr. Nabatian completed a procedural dermatology and Mohs micrographic surgery fellowship at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City.
Dr. Nabatian is currently a clinical instructor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and Montefiore Medical Center. Dr. Nabatian is a well-respected dermatologist whose dermatology research has been published in multiple peer-reviewed academic journals. Dr. Nabatian has also contributed chapters on dermatology and cosmetic dermatology to medical books. Dr. Nabatian continues to implement the most innovative, up-to-date procedures at Metropolitan Dermatology and strives for unmatched dermatology care.
When not practicing dermatology, Dr. Nabatian enjoys playing basketball, swimming, tennis, biking, and spending time with his friends and family.
Dr. Xuan Wang
Dr. Xuan Wang is a board-certified Anatomic Pathologist with subspecialty board certification in Dermatopathology. She received a Bachelor of Medicine degree at Shanghai Medical University in China, and a Ph.D. in Biology at Brandeis University in Massachusetts. Dr. Wang completed residency training in Anatomic Pathology at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical College. She subsequently pursued fellowship training in Dermatopathology with Dr. Cynthia Magro and Dr. Klaus Busam at the combined program between Weill Cornell Medical College and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Prior to residency training, Dr. Wang conducted research in Skin Biology at the Rockefeller University. She has published several peer-reviewed journal articles relating to skin pathology and skin biology.
Besides her appointment at Metropolitan Dermatology, Dr. Wang is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical College, and an Attending Pathologist at the Laboratory of Dermatopathology of Aurora Diagnostics, where she serves as the Medical Director.
In her spare time, Dr. Wang enjoys spending time with her family and various outdoor activities.
