Dr. Alexander Doctoroff is
a Board Certified Dermatologist. He is the current
President of the New Jersey Dermatological
Society. He also holds
the position of Assistant
Chief of Dermatology at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in East
Orange. He teaches medical residents and students at UMDNJ, where he is a Clinical
Assistant Professor. Dr. Doctoroff is on staff of St. Barnabas Medical
Center in Livingston. In addition to general medical dermatology, Dr.
Doctoroff specializes in cosmetic dermatology, surgical dermatology, and
anti-aging skin treatments. .
Dr. Doctoroff is the recipient of multiple dermatologic
awards for excellence. These include Allergan-AOCD Resident Paper
Competition Award, Stelwagon-Kroll Award, Dr. Daniel Koprince Educational
Award, and Dr. Albert P. Ulrich Research Award. Dr. Doctoroff has authored
multiple publications in national dermatologic journals on a variety
of topics. Additionally, he recently contributed a chapter to a premier
resource to dermatologists worldwide, a book entitled “Treatment of Skin Disease”,
edited by Mark Lebwohl et. al.
Dr. Doctoroff graduated from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in 1998. Following a year of residency in Internal Medicine at Brooklyn's Maimonides Medical Center, Dr. Doctoroff completed his dermatological residency at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2002, where he was ranked first in the nation during both his second and third years of residency. He also elected to have additional training in dermatologic research, earning his Master of Science.

Dr. Doctoroff opened Clark Dermatology
in 2004. He is fluent in English, Russian, and Ukrainian. Dr. Doctoroff
lives with his family in Springfield, New Jersey.
Dr. Eugene Sweeney graduated from Manhattan College earning a B.S in Chemistry. He went on to earn an M.D. from New York Medical College. While in medical school he was elected to Cor et Manus. He participated in a rotating internship in Brooklyn Hospital. He did a residency and fellowship at both Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center and St. Luke's Hospital Center in New York City. Dr. Sweeney has pursued further study in Berlin, Dublin, Oxford and Plymouth, England. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Medicine while in Oxford.
Dr. Sweeney served two tours of active duty in United States Navy. After decades in the reserves, he retired with the rank of Captain. Dr. Sweeney is currently an Associate Clinical Professor of Dermatology at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center. He specializes in General and Pediatric Dermatology. He is past Chief of Dermatology at Holy Name Hospital in Englewood. Dr. Sweeney and his wife have two sons, two grandsons and one granddaughter

Ms. Amanda Tirado is a physician assistant certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. She is licensed to practice medicine in the states of New York and New Jersey. Ms. Tirado joined Clark Dermatology in 2009 and works closely with Dr. Doctoroff. She has received extensive training in general dermatology to provide quality care for our patients. Ms. Tirado received a Bachelor of Arts from La Salle University in Philadelphia, PA in 2006. Upon graduating, she obtained the distinction of Magna Cum Laude. Subsequently, she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Science as well as a Master’s Degree in Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Mercy College in New York in 2008. She graduated from this program with honors. She is an avid member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants as well as the Society for Dermatology Physician Assistants.
Ms. Tirado specializes in general dermatology including the diagnosis and treatment of dermatologic conditions such as eczema, acne, psoriasis, warts, and skin cancers. Ms. Tirado attends many local and national meetings to enhance her knowledge in dermatology. She also actively participates in volunteer work in the community
Jalpa Patel, PA-C, is a board certified Physician Assistant. Ms. Patel is licensed by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants to practice medicine in the state of New Jersey. Jalpa joined Metropolitan Dermatology in 2010 and works closely with Dr. Doctoroff to diagnose and treat a variety of dermatologic disorders. She has received extensive training in general dermatology to provide the best care for both our pediatric and adult patients.
In 2008, Ms. Patel received a Bachelor of Sciences in Health Science from the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, PA. She received a Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2010, completing clinical rotations in Dermatology, Internal Medicine, Family Practice, Psychiatry, Surgery, Ob/Gyn, Pediatrics, and Emergency Medicine.
Jalpa is a fellow member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants as well as the Society for Dermatology Physician Assistants. She specializes in general dermatology including the diagnosis and treatment of dermatologic conditions such as eczema, acne, psoriasis, warts, and skin cancers. Ms. Patel attends local & national meetings to enhance her knowledge in dermatology and is an active member of the community. When she’s not practicing dermatology, Jalpa enjoys mystery novels and fiction, and playing a game of tennis or swimming.
Dana Smeragliuolo is our aesthetician. She is licensed in the state of New Jersey and has been with Clark Dermatology since 2008. Dana enjoys being involved in making people look and feel beautiful. Trained in clinical procedures and certified in microdermabrasion, Dana customizes treatment programs to address each patient’s unique skincare needs. She specializes in chemical peels and microdermabrasion for rejuvenation, as well as selecting customized effective skincare treatments based on the patient’s needs and skin type (acne-prone, mature skin, supersensitive, dry or oily). Dana assists teens and adults with acne by introducing salicylic peel treatments into their regular acne regimen.
